Pee Wee School
The girls started Pee Wee School on September 4th. You might also call it Mother's Day Out. It's at our church and they go Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-2. They take their lunch and have nap time there but it's only about an hour and a half and they don't really even sleep that long yet. Some days they didn't sleep at all but hopefully they will get used to it soon and be able to sleep longer. At home they usually take about a 2 hour nap.
It has been a big transition for them being away from me that long with strangers. They have been there for church of course but this is so much longer. Plus they just changed classrooms at church so they really weren't familiar with this room yet anyway. I wasn't as much worried about them being upset as I was about them hurting someone. This summer we went through a rough patch of them not wanting to share with other toddlers and pushing, shoving, doing whatever to get what they wanted. :( Not a fun parenting moment I tell you, not fun at all to have to constantly apologize for your little ones behavior. Stella was the biter and let me tell you how even more embarrassing that is!! Luckily after a couple of really bad, I mean BAD bites, She has finally gotten it under control. I guess it had to get really bad before it got better. Every time I drop them off I hold my breath until about 1:00 waiting for the school to call me and tell me I need to come and get one of them. Luckily I haven't had to yet and I pray that I won't. They have cried every time at drop off but not long. On Thursday last week, the fourth time, Stella didn't cry at all and Sloane stopped before I even left. I am hoping that tomorrow, the fifth time, we will do even better. They love it there I can tell because they come home talking all about things they did and friends they have made.

What we're up to these days...
I feel like the girls have been doing so many cute things and I want to write about them before I forget it all!! I'll start with Stella and how she is all the sudden giving real kisses with a little smacking noise and all! It just melts my heart! She has always been the more affectionate one and she has been giving kisses for while but she would just lean real close and put her lips on you. Now it's a full out lean in and smack on the lips! Tonight she even pretended to "tuck" in her baby and gave her kisses too. I know it's just part of her growing up but the fact that she is really getting interested in baby dolls is so sweet too. They put a baby doll in their old entertainer today and they were spinning her around and turning music on for her.
They both have been really interested in this little block set that we have where you have to fit them in the correct slots. All the sudden they love it and they will sit still for several minutes (which is RARE) and put all the blocks in. They are starting to get really good at it too. Sloane can almost always get the star in on her own!
I love that our sweet daughters are also starting to say more words. They try to copy so many more things and I am starting to understand more and more. I have been worried a little because I have known other kids this age that talked more but I asked their pediatrician at the last visit and she said that they are normal. She said they should know 5-8 words and signing is good too. When I started thinking about it I realized that they do know that many or maybe more.
They LOVE to play outside and have recently learned how to climb the ladder and go down the slide all by their selves. I stand close to make sure they are steady before sliding down but usually they don't need me at all. They still love airplanes and birds and spend most of their outdoor time looking up.
One thing that is good (and bad for me) is their climbing ability. They are climbing any and everything. We almost go nuts keeping them from climbing on the kitchen table and chairs. They are fast and can pull themselves up before you know it. I know it's just a phase but this is one of the hardest ones! As soon as I get one of them down the other is climbing up, then I get her down and the first one is back up again. And it goes on until I can find something really fun to distract them from it.
They are still great eaters and pretty much always have been. Every few days they will have a meal or two that they eat less but then by the third meal they are gobbling it all up again. I know I am lucky that they eat all the variety of foods that they do and I pray they keep up over the next couple years.
Its so funny when I think of how different everything was this time last year. I found a video on the camera of them in their bumbos and I had just fed them rice cereal and they were about 5 and a half months old. Stella is "cooing" at Sloane and they are trying to grab each other and it's just the sweetest thing. I teared up watching it because it feels like that "baby" stage went by SO fast. I mean I knew it would, but I think my girls grew up especially fast because they started walking so early (9 months). It's like all the sudden they were toddlers! I can only imagine the difference I will see next year. I need to video them soon so I can remember this fun and challenging stage too.
And my favorite S&S thing lately is them "loving" each other. One will get on top of the other and they will both start giggling and laughing. The they will start kissing each other on the head or belly like we do to them and make each other laugh even more. We love to watch them interact like this and pray they always love each other.
Oh, and they are obsessed with belly buttons! They will try to lift up our shirts and say "bu-bu-bu" for belly button. It's funny because they have no social boundaries so they are always trying to look at our belly buttons at the weirdest time or trying to check out their grandma's and other friends' belly buttons whenever they can. All we can do is apologize and hope they outgrow it soon. :)
We took them to a restaurant for the first time in a long time and they did surprisingly well. Here is a pic of them enjoying some chips and queso.

New Tricks
As you can probably tell I am trying really hard to keep up with this blog. I know it's nothing pretty and I have a lot to learn about how to do things on here but I do want to at least try and keep it more up to date.
Our sweet, adorable and precious daughters are changing and learning so much every day!! I knew that ONE was going to be a fun age but I didn't know this fun!!
I have been trying to teach them sign language since they were about 6 months old. They liked it and would do a sign here and there when I prompted them but now they are finally really getting it. They can both sign "more" and "eat" and wave bye-bye. Stella can sign "thank you" and Sloane will do it sometimes. They both love to clap and will clap whenever they like something or get excited. They can both say da-da and ma-ma and snack (nack) for any kind of food. I know I am supposed to say it correctly to teach them properly but I just LOVE that they say "nack, nack, nack" when I ask them if they want to eat or they see me in the pantry or fridge. :)
Go figure my daughters first real word would revolve around food!!
They love to look outside for birds (Sloane calls them "da") and they love to go outside and swing or play in their play house. I hate that it has been so hot but I do try to take them out there at least once a day for about 15 minutes or so. That's enough time in this heat to make us all sweaty and red faced! If I say shoes, they go right to the shelf where we keep them and grunt to put them on. It I say bath time, they go right to our bedroom door (we bathe them in our tub) and usually when I say let's eat, they will head to their highchair. Its so amazing how much they really do understand now!
But the most precious thing they are doing is kisses! Stella has been doing it for a while when we would ask her, but now she will just lean in to kiss us on her own. She keeps her mouth kind of open and gently touches our cheek or forehead. (or where ever!) She likes to kiss Sloane on the head. I used to see wet spots on Sloane's hair and not know what it was then one day I saw Stella "kissing" her and figured it out. So funny! Sloane doesn't really kiss us but she does imitate the noise. You can tell she is thinking really hard about smacking her lips to imitate you then gets so proud of herself. I thought my mom was going to cry last night on Skype watching them "give kisses". I love that they are both so much alike and different too. People ask me all the time how I know the difference and how I tell them apart. Of course it's easy for me but really I think that anyone who is around them for a little while will see how sweet they both are but so unique as well. We are so blessed!
